iPhone 16 & iPhone 16 Pro Screenshot Sizes Guide

iPhone 16 Lineup Display Classes & Exact Resolutions
Apple App Store Connect organizes screenshot submissions by display size categories rather than commercial marketing names. The iPhone 16 family introduces two distinct display classes:
| Device Model | Display Category | Portrait (W × H) | Landscape (W × H) | Aspect Ratio |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| iPhone 16 Pro Max / 16 Plus | 6.9-inch Super Retina XDR | 1320 × 2868 px | 2868 × 1320 px | 19.5:9 |
| iPhone 16 / iPhone 16 Pro | 6.3-inch Super Retina XDR | 1206 × 2622 px | 2622 × 1206 px | 19.5:9 |
| iPhone 15 Pro Max / 14 Pro Max | 6.7-inch (Legacy category) | 1290 × 2796 px | 2796 × 1290 px | 19.5:9 |
| iPad Pro 13-inch (M4) | 13-inch Ultra Retina XDR | 2064 × 2752 px | 2752 × 2064 px | 4:3 |

Dynamic Island Safe Margins
All iPhone 16 devices feature the Dynamic Island hardware cutout at the top of the display. When designing promotional screenshots:
- Top headline clearance: Reserve at least 160 pixels of vertical clearance at the top of a 1320×2868 portrait canvas for device mockups or status bars so the Dynamic Island frame never cuts through text.
- Bottom navigation safe zone: Keep crucial callouts at least 120 pixels above the bottom edge to avoid overlapping the iOS Home Indicator bar.
- Framing choice: If using device mockups in App Listing Screenshots, select the iPhone 16 Pro preset to automatically position the screen within the matte titanium bezel.
Apple Automatic Downscaling Rules
App Store Connect allows developers to provide screenshots for the highest resolution in a device family, and Apple will automatically scale them down for smaller screen sizes:
- Providing 6.9-inch screenshots (1320 × 2868 px) allows Apple to generate scaled views for 6.7″, 6.5″, and 6.1″ devices if you do not upload dedicated assets.
- However, for optimal typography crispness and sharp caption readability on smaller screens, creating dedicated 6.3″ and 6.9″ sets is recommended.
Top Reasons App Store Screenshots Get Rejected
- Alpha Channel (Transparency): Exporting PNGs with transparency is the #1 cause of immediate rejection in App Store Connect. All images must be flat 24-bit RGB without an alpha channel. App Listing Screenshots exports 100% opaque PNGs by default.
- Device Frame Mismatch: Displaying an Android device frame or an outdated home-button iPhone frame in an iOS 18 listing can trigger metadata rejection during Apple App Review.
- Placeholder or Illegible Text: Captions smaller than 36px on a high-res canvas become unreadable when browsed on a real iPhone device in the App Store search results.
