App Store & Google Play screenshot sizes
Choose the canvas for the store and device you are publishing to. This guide pairs common listing dimensions with the presets in App Listing Screenshots, then walks through preparing a readable design.
App Store screenshot dimensions
These are selected accepted sizes from Apple's specification, with matching presets in our editor. Apple lists additional device classes and alternatives; check the upload slot in App Store Connect for your app.
| Display group | Portrait | Landscape | Editor preset |
|---|---|---|---|
| iPhone 6.9-inch | 1320 × 2868 | 2868 × 1320 | iPhone 16 Pro Max |
| iPhone 6.9-inch alternative | 1290 × 2796 | 2796 × 1290 | iPhone 15/14 Pro Max |
| iPhone 6.5-inch | 1242 × 2688 | 2688 × 1242 | iPhone 11 Pro Max / XS Max |
| iPad 13-inch | 2064 × 2752 | 2752 × 2064 | iPad Pro 13-inch (M4) |
Apple accepts one to ten screenshots in JPEG or PNG format and does not allow alpha channels or transparency. Screenshots for the 6.5-inch group are required for iPhone apps when 6.9-inch screenshots are not provided; iPad apps need the relevant iPad screenshots. Read Apple's screenshot specifications.
Google Play screenshots and feature graphics
For standard listing screenshots, Google specifies JPEG or 24-bit PNG without alpha, sides between 320 and 3840 pixels, and a longest side no more than twice the shortest. At least two screenshots are needed. Device-specific placements can have additional rules.
| Asset | Width × height | How to use it |
|---|---|---|
| Phone portrait | 1080 × 1920 | A tall composition for portrait app screens. |
| Phone landscape | 1920 × 1080 | A wide composition for landscape experiences. |
| Feature graphic | 1024 × 500 | A separate promotional asset, not a phone screenshot slot. |
The phone sizes above are our practical presets, not Google's only allowed dimensions. The feature graphic has its own 1024 × 500 requirement. Check Google's preview asset requirements before submission, especially for tablets, TV, Wear OS or other device types.
Turn an app screen into a listing screenshot
- Start with the destination. Select your store preset in the studio before arranging anything. Choose custom dimensions for a size your listing requires; the editor supports 1–8192 pixels per side, but that range is broader than either store's upload rules.
- Add a real app screen. Capture it from your app first, then upload the PNG or JPG. Our studio styles existing screenshots; it does not connect to your app or capture screens for you.
- Give each image one job. For a habit tracker, “See your weekly progress” is more concrete than “The ultimate experience.” Pair it with the screen that actually shows that feature. This is a writing example, not a conversion claim.
- Keep the interface readable. Begin with one screen and a short headline. Use multiple screens only when the comparison helps. Check the preview at a small size; shrink decorative elements before shrinking essential text.
- Export and inspect. Download the PNG, check its dimensions and content, then upload it in the appropriate store console. Recheck text placement whenever you switch between portrait and landscape.
Before you upload
- Use the exported file, rather than taking a screenshot of the editor preview.
- Keep source images sharp and avoid stretching a low-resolution capture.
- Confirm the headline is readable and no important interface element is cropped.
- Remove private notifications, real customer information and unfinished placeholder text.
- Confirm the final file meets the store's format, alpha-channel and dimension requirements. A preset is a starting point, not a guarantee of approval.
